Akron Children's Hospital has an affiliation with Akron General Medical Center and Summa Health Systems to provide a Cooperative School of Medical Technology Program of Akron (CMPTA).
Responsible for planning and directing the organization, administration, instruction, evaluation, continuous quality improvement, curriculum planning and development, performance of program faculty/staff, and general effectiveness of the Cooperative Medical Technology Program of Akron (CMTPA) and responsible as a Consortium Coordinator for select hospitals for MLS/MT and MLT students requiring clinical experience in laboratory. Directs Lab Safety Program to ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Develops designs and maintains staff development and continuing education (CE) activities. Assesses forecasts, evaluates and responds to fiscal needs.
Master's or Doctoral degree required. Holds ASCP-BOC U.S. Generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist. Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in laboratory science education. Knowledge of education methods and administration. Knowledge of current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures. Knowledge of adult learning and CE requirements for laboratorians. Working knowledge of lab safety regulations and safe work practices. Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills required.
