Provides consistently courteous, friendly, and professional customer service. Secretary responsibilities include the following: scheduling appointments, registering patients, verifying insurance coverage and eligibility, posting office and hospital charges, collecting and securing payments, performing end-of-day balancing and reconciliation, facilitating patient referrals and completing forms and documents. Responsible for office typing, retrieving and filing charts and chart documents, answering the phone, mail distribution and assisting and/or answering questions from parents/patients within specified guidelines. Medical Assistant responsibilities determined by site and as need arises and may include the following: taking and recording vital signs and weight/height. Performs hearing and vision screening evaluations, CLIA tests, phlebotomy, and obtains nasopharyngeal and other specimens for testing. Administers vaccines and medications, including antibiotics, as directed by the physician according to policy and procedure. Performs other assigned tasks to promote efficient practice operation and contribute to the provision of quality patient care. Provides cross-coverage as needed.
High school graduate or equivalent required. Demonstrated excellence in customer service, interpersonal, and telephone skills. Must be a Medical Assistant with certification preferred or equivalent education, training, or experience including paramedics, EMT or military training. Medical office billing experience and training in medical terminology preferred. Must have basic computer experience, filing ability, good keyboarding skills, and excellent organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure and work well as part of a team. BLS certification required.
