What makes a successful Staff Nurse at Akron Children’s Hospital? All our units provide robust orientations (from 9 weeks up to 8 months), and our nurse residency program provides hands-on training for nurses with less than 1 year of clinical experience. Therefore, a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) is the preferred minimum education for staff RNs, and no experience is required. Provides to individuals and groups, nursing care requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill derived from the principles of biological physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences. Assesses, Plans, Implements, Evaluates and Directs nursing care for individual/group of patients, with a family centered care focus.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio. BSN required or must obtain BSN within 5 years from date of hire. Current Health Care Provider BLS training from the American Heart Association is required. PALS is required for all RNs assigned to acute care units. PALS, ACLS, TNCC and/or NRP is required for critical care areas, ED, Surgical Services, Sedation Services, Transitional Care/Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and Transport within one year of hire.
